Panko breadcrumbs give a spectacular result when breading meat or vegetables. It is best known as the crust of the Japanese "Tonkatsu" schnitzel variant. The very large breadcrumbs create a breading that is comparable to corn flakes. Its consistency is comparable to the French Mie de Pain, in which only the white of the bread and not the crust is processed into breadcrumbs.
